The Greater Chicago Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) was pleased to welcome Kathy Enstrom, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Chicago field office of the IRS Criminal Investigation unit. SAC Enstrom discussed the unit, COVID-19-related fraud, and the use of data analytics in IRS investigations.
SAC Enstrom’s division enjoys one of the highest conviction rates of all federal law enforcement agencies, and her work exposing tax frauds is both timely and relevant. In the virtual presentation, the first woman to run Chicago’s IRS Criminal Investigation unit shared insights into her investigative process and how it has been affected by the pandemic. The presentation concluded with a Q&A opportunity. David Kalat moderated the panel.
